Hydroxyapatite (HAp) is a kind of calcium phosphate compounds. Duck eggshell contains mostly calcium carbonate, which can be used as a starting material for HAp formation. HAp was synthesized by using dry method with variation temperatures of 800, 1000, and 1200 °C and (NH4)2HPO4 as the phosphorus source. X-ray diffractogram profiles showed that HAp has been formed accompanied by other apatite compounds: carbonate apatite type A and B, octacalcium phosphate, α- and β-tricalcium phosphate, and tetracalcium phosphate. The degree of crystallinity and crystal size increased with increasing heating temperature.en
