dc.description.abstractSea cucumber is one of the export commodities that increases every year. Seribu Islands are potential producers for sea cucumber in Indonesia. Increasing catching activities may lead to excessive exploitation. This research was conducted in Panggang Island, Seribu Islands, Jakarta and aimed to describe the system of sea cucumber fishery, determine its feasibility and to arrange the strategy of its development. Systems approach was used as the method. Result showed that the fishing seasons of sea cucumber occurred during January-April and October- November. Sea cucumber fishery used diving method and they were directly caught by hands. Marketed product was dried sea cucumber which was exported to Europe, America, Japan and Singapore. The value of R/C was 1.32 and the value of PP was in 6,37 months. Five priorities in the implementation of business development strategies are optimizing business and potential market, increasing the quality of the human resources, enhancing the capital cooperation, monitoring the activity of fishery and restocking.en
