Seed lots with different viability levels, 60–80%, are needed for seed invigoration studies to improve seed vigor and crop yield. Laboratory experiments were conducted to determine an accelerated aging method with liquid ethanol (96%) producing the desirable seed-viability levels and the storability of the treated seeds on soybean (Glycine max L.). The experiments were conducted in the Seed Science and Technology Laboratory, Bogor Agricultural University from November 2012 to May 2013. Soybean seeds of varieties Gema, Burangrang, and Ijen were treated by different duration of soaking into 96% liquid ethanol. Viability of the treated seeds were tested with UKD-dp method. The seeds with desirable viability levels P20 and P40 , were stored in two storage conditions, 27–30°C with 61–72% RH and 22–27°C with 58–74% RH. The results indicated that soybean seed of varieties Gema, Burangrang, and Ijen, with viability level of 80% (P20 ) could be obtain by soaking the seed into ethanol 96% for 22 minutes 31.8 secons, 22 minutes 58.8 secons, 15 hours 19.8 minutes respectively, whereas those with viability level of 60% (P40 )were obtained by soaking durations of 99 minutes 27.6 secons, 109 minutes 34.2 secons, 40 hours 4.8 minutes, respectively. The seed with selected viability levels, (P20 ) and (P40 ), could maintain the viability for 8 weeks in the both storage conditions.en
