Faktor-faktor yang Memengaruhi Impor Daging Sapi di Indonesia

Abstract

The rapid increase in population and changes in consumer preference cause the changes in consumption patterns towards animal protein, including beef. Beef production rate in Indonesia can not fulfill the demand rate, therefore import is necessary. This is indicated by the increase of beef imports. In this condition, barriers of trade is needed to reduce Indonesia’s dependency from beef exporter countries. The objectives of this research is to analyze the factors that affect beef imports in Indonesia by using secondary data from 2000 to 2011 in the form of panel data with a model that best estimated with fixed effect model. Based on the estimation, the variables that affect the beef imports in Indonesia are real GDP per capita of exporter countries, Indonesia’s real GDP per capita, real exchange rate, international real beef price and Indonesia real beef price, while beef production in Indonesia and exporter countries did not affect the import of beef in Indonesia.

Pesatnya laju peningkatan penduduk serta perubahan selera konsumen menyebabkan perubahan pola konsumsi kearah protein hewani, termasuk daging sapi. Laju produksi daging sapi di Indonesia saat ini tidak dapat mengimbangi permintaan daging sapi, sehingga dilakukan impor. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan laju peningkatan impor daging sapi yang semakin tinggi. Kondisi demikian perlu langkah proteksi untuk mengurangi ketergantungan Indonesia terhadap negaranegara pengekspor daging sapi. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi impor daging sapi di Indonesia dengan menggunakan data sekunder tahun 2000 hingga tahun 2011 berupa panel data dengan model estimasi terbaik yaitu model efek tetap (fixed effect model). Berdasarkan hasil estimasi, variabel yang berpengaruh terhadap impor daging sapi di Indonesia yaitu GDP riil per kapita negara asal impor, GDP riil per kapita Indonesia, nilai tukar riil, harga riil daging sapi internasional dan harga riil daging sapi di Indonesia, sedangkan produksi daging sapi di Indonesia dan produksi daging sapi di negara asal impor tidak mempengaruhi impor daging sapi di Indonesia.
