dc.description.abstractActivated e-packaging can be used to keep the quality of horticultural products, one of the functions is for adsorbing moisture and ethylene on climacteric fruits, such as raja bulu (banana). The materials are used in making of activated e-packaging are recycled of paper and polystyrene. The characteristic of activated paper is tested by SNI ISO187: 2010, ISO 534:2011, ISO 536:2010, SNI 14-0437-1998, SNI 0436:2009, and morphology of activated membrane used scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffractometer. The activated paper is able to adsorb ethylene at 1.23-1.7 ppm and delay the maturity until 10 days, meanwhile the activated membrane is able to adsorb ethylene at 17.96-23.10 ppm and delay the maturity until 16 days. The bananas with paper and membrane activated e-packaging can not ripe perfectly, because of postharvest disease, meanwhile banana without treatment ripes perfectly at 8th day. In this research, activated e-packaging is made from activated carbon as adsorbent of ethylene. The source of activated carbon is the branch of Tectona grandis, which is activated at 800 °C for 120 minutes, The best activated carbon which appropriate with SNI 06-3730-95, is activated carbon which water vapor as activator.en
