Sludge is the residue from sedimentation process which is settled in the bottom of clarifier unit. Accumulated sludge inside the sludge drying bed could be discarded using some methods. Composting is one of the alternative method for the sludge processing. The purposes of this study were utilizing the sludge from PT. Krakatau Tirta Industri Water Treatment Plant become compost and analyze the contents of compost product, then compare it with SNI 19-7030-2004. The study divided into three step, first is analyze the contents of raw materials followed by composting and analyze the contents of compost product. Analysis of compost raw materials which is consist of straw, manure, and sludge conducted in the Indonesian Soil Research Instiute laboratorium to find out the organic and inorganic contents inside the materials. Composting uses two activator, manure for the box 1 and decomposer for the box 2. On the box 1, the combination between straw, manure, and sludge were 100 kg:100kg:100kg, while on the box 2 the combination between straw, bactery, and sludge were 100 kg:100 kg(ml):90 kg. Measure the temperature day by day during composting process. The temperature data for 60 days was between 32,75-50 oC on the box 1 and between 30,5-43,5 oC on the box 2. The temperatures changes shows that the compost pile undergoing by microorganisms degradation process. The results showed that organic contents and inorganic contents including heavy metals contained in produced composts complied with SNI 19-7030-2004, except Al.The results also showed that inorganic contains such as metals concentration in sludge could be reduced with using composting.en
