dc.description.abstractEarwigs (Dermaptera) is omnivorous insect. One of the habitat of the earwigs is in the male flowers of oil palm. The objective of this research was to study diversity of earwigs in male flowers of oil palm. The observations were conducted during 10 minutes by fix sample method. Observation were done in four days per month, ie. April, May, and June 2012. Species and individual number of earwigs were recorded. The weather elements, ie. temperature, humidity, and light intensity were measured. Results showed that earwigs in male flowers of oil palm consist of three species, namely Chelisoches sp., Forficula sp., and Labia sp. C. morio was the dominant earwig in male flowers of oil palm. Diversity of earwigs in male flowers of oil palm was low (H '= 0,83 and E = 0,75).en
