N is natural defense gene in plant which is potential to be utilized for development of transgenic cacao. TcPIN gene had been isolated from cacao’s peel (pod wall) of Ary and Bal clones, and from seed of cacao (beans). Bioinformatics study showed that this gene expressed 21 kDa protein, having high homology with tripsin inhibitor. The activity of this protein was tested in vitro. Protein expressed intracellularly from TcPIN gene of the peel showed activities as tripsin inhibitor. In contrary, protein expressed by TcPIN gene from the seed did not show such activity.en
