dc.description.abstractThe apprentice was conducted in Teluk Siak Estate, PT Aneka Intipersada, Riau from February until May 2012. The purpose of the apprentice generally was to developed intern’s knowledge and work experience in palm oil plantation. The main purposes were to learn the management of harvesting and post harvest handling of oil palm to obtain a quality crude palm oil (CPO). Crop density in Teluk Siak Estate tend to be rather low, so not much fruits can be harvested. The percentage density of crop ranging from 12% until 19%. Flooding and losses fruits is still the cause of the production is not optimal. The percentage of unripe fruit was 0% (standard 0%), under ripe fruit was 4.02% (standard < 5%), ripe fruit was 95.98% (standard > 95%), and empty bunch was 0% (standard 0%). Harvesting of unripe fruits will reduce oil extraction rate (OER) value, and over ripe fruits will be increase to free fatty acid (FFA) value.en
