      Abstract
      Coral reefs and other ecosystems in coastal areas have a big potential, but it is degrading due to high exploitation and other human pressures. To anticipate that problem, a more conservative management model is needed, that is marine conservation area (MCA). The goals of this research were to design of multiple use zones and identify the outer boundary of the MCA. This research was conducted at Pasi Island, Selayar Regency South Sulawesi Province on April-May 2009. Seventeen sampling locations were observed, underwater observation (Line Intercept Transect and Underwater Visual Census) and interview were used to observe the condition of benthic percent coverage, density of coral reef fishes and community perception. To determine the level of suitability in zoning, weighting and scoring applied, before processed with GIS. Finally zones were determining using SWOT analysis. Result shown that the coral reefs condition is moderate to good category; diversity (H’) of reef fish is high. The multiple use zones in KKLD Pasi Island consist of the core zone, mariculture zone, fishing zone and marine tourism zone. The boundary of KKLD Pasi Island and also the outer boundary of fishing zone which is 500 meters from the reef flat around the island.
       
      Terumbu karang memiliki nilai yang sangat penting di wilayah pesisir. Terumbu karang dan segala kehidupan yang ada di dalamnya merupakan salah satu kekayaan alam yang tak ternilai harganya. Walaupun memiliki nilai sumberdaya yang penting bagi masyarakat, terumbu karang di Pulau Pasi sangat rentan terhadap gangguan. Untuk mengantisipasi masalah-masalah tersebut diperlukan suatu pengelolaan yang tepat. Salah satu bentuk upaya tersebut adalah perlindungan sumberdaya alam yang dapat dilakukan melalui konservasi dengan cara menyisihkan lokasi-lokasi yang memiliki potensi keanekaragaman jenis biota laut, gejala alam dan keunikan, serta ekosistemnya menjadi kawasan konservasi laut (KKL). Tujuan penelitian adalah: (1) mendesain zonasi multiguna kawasan konservasi laut daerah di Pulau Pasi, (2). menentukan batas Kawasan Konservasi Laut Daerah Pulau Pasi beserta petanya. Pengukuran parameter fisika kimia perairan yang diamati pada setiap stasiun meliputi kedalaman, suhu, salinitas, kecerahan, kecepatan arus, pH, dan oksigen terlarut. Pengambilan data karang dan ikan karang dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Line Intercept Transect (LIT) dan Underwater Fish Visual Census (UVC) untuk melihat persentase penutupan karang dan kelimpahan ikan karang. Pengambilan data sosial dilakukan melalui wawancara dengan responden (interview) dan pengamatan lapangan (observasi) dengan menggunakan kuisioner.
