Sistem evaluasi elemen desain kursi rotan menggunakan rekayasa kansei

Abstract

In product design development, it is very important for manufacturers to find out what the customer wants from the product. Kansei engineering as a product development technology can translate consumers Kansei (total feeling and emotion) into product design element. The purpose of this study was to develop an evaluation system of rattan chair design element using Kansei Engineering with rattan dining chair was used as the research object. Kansei words which represent feeling and emotion of consumers, i.e. beautiful, unique, innovative, comfortable, natural, modern, sturdy and simple were collected in this study. The words were grouped into four factors i.e. aesthetics, function, material and construction. Kansei engineering, analytical hierarchy process, association rules and quality function deployment were used to build evaluation system. For the evaluation, a rattan chair was divided into five design elements, i.e. backrest, seat, armrest, legs and rattan woven of the dining chair. Analytical hierarchy process with pair-wise comparison method was used to identify customers Kansei. The results showed that for backrest and base design of the rattan chair, the most influential customers Kansei factor was the construction. For the seat design of the rattan chair, most influential customers Kansei factor was function, while aesthetics was the most influential customers Kansei for the armrest and woven design of the rattan chair. Association rules were used to mine the rules that connecting Kansei words with the design elements of the rattan chair. These rules were transferred to build a house of quality in quality function deployment. It could be concluded from the quality function deployment that priority of customers Kansei words were sturdy, comfortable, and unique, meanwhile the priority of design elements of a rattan chair based on those words were curved armrest design, design of legs covered with woven and semicircular seat design of rattan chair.
