Forest and Land Fires Management Policy in Riau Province

Abstract

Forest and land fires in the province of Riau caused land use activIties by ~panies and farmers. Factors is causing forest fires and land on farmers is the ~it of burning on the land preparation; the community does not feel the direct itpact of forest and land fires, and the assumption that burning the land can ~rtilize the soil. Whereas the factors causing forest and land fires on the company i not applied to the policies and rules prohibiting burning by these companies. In ~dition to the factors that have not been optimal coordination between working ® its of local government and the institutions of the central government ~thorities to conduct surveillance as well as a program for tackling forest fires ~d land which is not effective causing forest and land fires continue to occur in i.e Riau Province. t-he property rights of natural resources (farmers and plantation companies and fi;>restry company) is not one of the root problems cause forest and land fires in the lfiau Province.
