Purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus L.) is one of weed species that has an allelopathyc potential. Supposed, this potency can give pressuring to broadleave weeds and cultivated plant growth, which is soybean (Glycine max (L.)Merr). This research took place at Cikabayan, University Farm IPB from Desember 2011 till March 2012. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of giving way of purple nutsedge toward broadleaves weed and soybean growth. The experiment used Randomized Complete Block Design with seven treatments. Fresh and dry purple nutsedge used as mulching, fresh and dry purple nutsedge used as organic material, purple nutsedge compost, and two control plots without purple nutsedge, free from weeds and unweeded. The dosage of purple nutsedge that used in this research was 6 ton/ha dry purple nutsedge for each plot with 20 m2 large. The result of vegetation analysis at 4 weeks after planted (MST) showed that purple nutsedge as a material organic treatment can pressure the growth of broadleave weeds, it was looked from sum dominancy ratio less than control plots, then followed purple nutsedge as mulching and purple nutsedge compost. On soybean vegetative growth, purple nutsedge treatment only significance to height at 2 MST. Beside that, purple nutsedge treatments give very significant influence to weight of pod per 4m2 plot. Fresh purple nutsedge as mulching has weighest than control plots and also other plot treatments.en
