      Abstract
In this time management of aquaculture on this area does not be done in an optimal condition, because generally aquaculture system are still in traditional way which is ~ntical with limitation in capital, technological and market. The objectives of the ~y are to identify the suitability of coastal area for aquaculture development, to d§!;ermine aassimilative capacity of coastal waters and to determine optimum area for a~aculture in coastal area. Based on the GIS analysis, the area, which is suitable for a.guaculture, accounted for about 5,311 ha, and moderate suitable area is about 10,871 hr. Carrying capacity of coastal waters for accommodating wastes from aquaculture agtivities is about 556,622,583 m3 . The maximum area for intensive shrimp farming is ajProximately 566 ha, 1,132 ha for semi-intensive system and 2,264 ha for traditional s)'Oitem. Existing condition of aquaculture in Sausu Sub-District is 1,675 ha. Thus, area oI1D aquaculture in Sausu exceeded three times carrying capacity level, if all of area is iiiend for intensive aquaculture system. Therefore, if the system of shrimp farming c~ducted semi intensive or traditional, the total area is double or four times bigger than iiensive system. If local government wants to enhance development of aquaculture on tl1is area, carrying capacity of environment and aquaculture system should be consider t&reach out sustainability of aquaculture development and coastal environment.
