      Abstract
The study was conducted in PT National Sago Prima, Selat Panjang, Riau on February to June 2011. The study aimed to provide knowledge, skills, technique capability and management of sago palm especially in sago nursery. The method are direct for getting primary data and indirect for secondary data. Secondary data takes from interviewing and discussing with the company staff and literacy study to get more information. Generally, the primary data could get from technique activity in the field but the focus case in sago nursery. The experiment was conducted to obtain information in a nursery on the effects of trimming and organic hormone application. The experiment was arranged in Split-plot design, where the main plot was trimming on sucker petiole with three factors (without trimming (P0), trimming 20 cm above baneer (P1), and trimming 30 cm above baneer (P2)) and the subplot was four factors of application of organic hormone (without concentration (H0), concentration 1ml/l (H1), concentration 3 ml/l (H2), and concentration 5 ml/l (H3)). The result showed trimming on sucker petiole was significant difference in presentation survival rate and vegetative growth. Trimming 20 cm above baneer (P1) better than trimming 30 cm above baneer (P2) and without trimming (P0). Generally, organic hormone application didn’t show any significant difference, but organic hormone application concentration 5 ml/l (H3) was significant difference in number of sucker leaves, new leaf length, and trimming leaf wide. The interaction between treatments was significant difference in trimming leaf length and number of sucker new leaflet. Based on average value trimming 20 cm above baneer and without concentration (P1H0) showed the best result in survival rate and number of sucker leaves. The survival rate of sucker was positively correlated with the emergence of breath root. The results of this experiment showed that the hight survival rate of sucker displayed higher percentage of emergence breath root.
