Perubahan garis pantai dari pantai Teritip Balikpapan sampai pantai Ambarawang Kutai Kertanegara Kalimantan Timur
Abstract
Shoreline change from coast of Teritip Balikpapan to coast of Ambarawang Kutai Kertanegara, East Kalimantan from 2000 – 2007 was analyzed by developing a model. Initial shoreline as an input for model was the result of Landsat image in 2000, and the shoreline from Landsat ETM in 2007 was used to compare the final result of model. The model predicts shoreline change due to along shore sediment transport generated by wave that brakes at the shoreline. The characteristics of broken waves was predicted by analysing wave transformation from off-shore sea where the wave was generated by winds. Sediment transport along the coast were mostlynortheastward as the main winds that blown toward the coast were mostly from the south. Simulation for 8 years showes that accretion more intensive in the northern part than those in the south. In general, shoreline shape resulting from model show a good resemblace to those from Landsat image in 2007. Discrepancies between the two shoreline shape occurred mostly at the upstream of the head land where results of model shows erosion but the images show the shoreline almost stable. This is perhap due to existance of mangrove that prevent erosion, but the effect of this vegetation is not included in the model.
