In this research adsorptivity of bentonite against organochlorine compounds, namely hexachlorobenzene, was studied. Various treatments were given to the bentonite before being used as adsorbent. The treatments to the bentonite were acid and heating. The treatment that provide the best adsorption capacity and efficiency was given by heating treatment at 600 °C and followed by acid treatment of 30% H2SO4. The optimum adsorption time was obtained at 6 hours with the weight of adsorbent 0.5 g. The study of the adsorption isotherm model showed that the adsorption hexachlorobenzene using bentonite adsorbent followed the Freundlich isotherm. Adsorption of hexachlorobenzene using bentonite showed better capacity and efficiency of adsorption than using commercial activated carbon.en
