Analisis hubungan penerapan gizi seimbang keluarga dan perilaku keluarga sadar gizi dengan status gizi balita di Provinsi Kalimantan Barat
Abstract
The present study aims to analyze relationship between the implementation of balanced nutrition messages of family and behavior family nutrition awareness with under five years child nutritional status in West Kalimantan Province. The method used in this study was an observational study with cross sectional design. Samples were households with children aged 6-59 months who were taken from the Health Research Data Base (Riskesdas) in year 2007. The sampling method used was a two stage sampling, each with the number of households using probability proportional to size and simple random sampling. A total of 1 992 households was use in the study. Weight for height, weight for age and height for age index were used to measure under five years child nutritional status. Chi-square test and multiple logistic regression were used to analyze relationship of each variable. The results showed that the West Kalimantan Province had acute-chronic problem of malnutrition, indicated by the high prevalence of nutritional status of wasting reached 17.0% (> 5%), stunting at 43.4% (> 20% ) and underweigh for 24.1% (> 10%). There was a significant correlation (?< 0.05) between infection, maternal education and environmental health with the nutritional status of children in the index of weight for age. Energy consumption, maternal education, environmental health and behavior family nutrition awareness have significant relationship with nutritional status of children on the index height for age. Three messages did not meet criteria as required by the Indonesian Food Guidelines. They were eat food with energy needs requaired, eat half of food sources of carbohydrate for energy needs and eating one of fourth of food sources of fat for energy needs. Logistic multiple regression analysis showed that failure to follow the the Family Nutrition Awareness had 1.21 risk for children to became stunting than family to follow to guideline properly. In conclusion, socialization and development of Indonesia Food Guidelines in West Kalimantan Province is still needed. The messages delivery modes should be more effective ans easy understood by society, especially for the toddler’s mother.
