Phytophthora palmivora as the causal of coconut nutfall and cacao black pod is the potentially destructive diseases. This study was conducted to differentiate the isolates of P. palmivora from coconut and cocoa pod based on morphology and molecular characters, diversity, virulence and cross inoculation. Comparative morphological : diameter of colony, length and width of sporangium, l/w ratio , type of colony and sequence ITS-DNA tes ts showed that all isolates of Phytophthora isolated from coconut and cocoa in Indonesia are Phytophthora palmivora. Morphological characters of pathogen isolated from cocoa were smaller and significantly different in length, width, length/width ratio of sporangium and diameter of colony compared to isolates from coconut
