      Abstract

Rice is a commodity of significant importance because it serves as a source of staple food to meet nutritional needs. One of the problems in rice cultivation is pest infestation. The study aimed to examine the infestation levels of Cnaphalocrosis medinalis and Pomacea canaliculata, as well as the abundance of predators in rice plants (Oryza sativa) treated with various insecticide. The study was conducted in a 900 m² rice field in Situgede Village, Bogor City, using a randomized block design with four treatments and six repetitions. The treatments used are a synthetic insecticide with the active ingredient chlorantraniliprole, a bioinsecticide with active ingredient Bacillus thuringiensis and Serratia marcescens, a botanical insecticide made from neem leaf extract, and a control. Observations were conducted starting when the plants were 2 until 12 weeks after planting, conducted once a week, specifically three days after application. The results showed that the application of synthetic insecticides was more effective than bioinsecticides and botanical insecticides in reducing the severity of C. medinalis infestations. The predator abundance did not differ significantly across all treatments. The extent of P. canaliculata infestations was relatively low across all treatments, influenced by irrigation management and manual snail removal.
