Agrivoltaic and agroforestry systems are innovative approaches to optimizing land use and improving agricultural production. However, studies comparing the effects of these two shading systems on the growth of red galangal remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the growth and biomass production of red galangal under different shading conditions. The experiment was conducted using a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with one factor, namely fertilizer dosage (P), while shading conditions were used as blocks. The results showed that open-field conditions created an extreme microclimate that induced environmental stress, whereas the agroforestry system produced excessive shading, resulting in greater competition for nutrients and water. In contrast, the agrivoltaic system created a more stable microclimate, with light intensity ranging from 13.029 to 88,882 lux, air temperatures of 26–36°C, and soil moisture reaching up to 65%. The combination of the agrivoltaic system and the highest fertilizer dosage (P3, 20 g/m²) produced the best results, with a mean plant height of 43.2 cm, a mean stem diameter of 8.2 mm, a mean rhizome biomass of 2.1 kg/m², and a mean stem biomass of 2.0 kg/m².
