      Abstract
      Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.) merupakan tanaman rempah endemik Sumatera Utara yang bernilai ekonomi tinggi, tetapi perbanyakan secara konvensional terkendala oleh rendahnya viabilitas benih dan pertumbuhan yang lambat. Kultur jaringan menjadi salah satu alternatif untuk menghasilkan bibit secara cepat dan seragam. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji pengaruh benzylaminopurine (BAP) dan thidiazuron (TDZ) terhadap multiplikasi tunas andaliman secara in vitro. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Kelompok Lengkap Teracak (RKLT) faktorial dengan dua faktor, yaitu BAP (0; 1; 3; 5 dan 7 mg L?¹) dan TDZ (0; 0.25; dan 0.50 mg L?¹), dengan empat ulangan pada setiap kombinasi perlakuan. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis ragam pada taraf nyata 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa BAP, TDZ, dan interaksinya tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi eksplan, jumlah tunas, jumlah daun, dan umur muncul tunas. Persentase eksplan membentuk tunas pada 8 MST secara deskriptif berkisar antara 50–100%. Pengaruh nyata ditemukan pada interaksi BAP × TDZ terhadap panjang tunas pada 3 MST dan panjang daun pada 1 MST, pada perlakuan TDZ 0,25 mg L?¹ tanpa BAP menghasilkan respons tertinggi. Konsentrasi BAP dan TDZ yang diuji belum mampu meningkatkan multiplikasi tunas andaliman secara konsisten, meskipun berpengaruh nyata terhadap panjang tunas dan panjang daun pada waktu pengamatan tertentu.
       
      Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.) is a spice plant endemic to North Sumatra with high economic value, but its conventional propagation is hindered by low seed viability and slow growth. Tissue culture offers an alternative for producing seedlings rapidly and uniformly. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of benzylaminopurine (BAP) and thidiazuron (TDZ) on the in vitro shoot multiplication of andaliman. A factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) was used with two factors: BAP (0, 1, 3, 5, and 7 mg L?¹) and TDZ (0, 0.25, and 0.50 mg L?¹), with four replications for each treatment combination. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance at a 5% significance level. The results showed that BAP, TDZ, and their interaction had no significant effect on explant height, shoot number, leaf number, or shoot emergence time. The percentage of explants forming shoots at 8 WAP ranged descriptively from 50–100%. A significant effect of the BAP × TDZ interaction was observed on shoot length at 3 WAP and leaf length at 1 WAP, with TDZ at 0.25 mg L?¹ without BAP producing the highest response. The tested concentrations of BAP and TDZ were not yet able to consistently enhance shoot multiplication in andaliman, although they significantly affected shoot length and leaf length at certain observation periods.
