      Abstract
      Kalsium nitrat (Ca(NO3)2) merupakan garam anorganik kunci dalam sistem garam ganda (dual salt) pada bahan peledak emulsi yang umumnya masih diimpor. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan metode sintesis Ca(NO3)2 dari batu kapur lokal Indonesia melalui jalur netralisasi dengan HNO3 65%, serta mengevaluasi performanya sebagai oksidator dalam emulsi curah. Tiga formulasi (F1, F2, F3) dengan rasio molar HNO3:CaCO3:H2O yang divariasikan dipreparasi pada suhu 45 °C dengan pengadukan 500 rpm, dilanjutkan dengan pemekatan, kristalisasi pada penangas es, dan pengeringan vakum pada 220 °C. Karakterisasi dilakukan menggunakan FTIR, ICP-OES, dan titrasi Karl Fischer. Hasil menunjukkan kadar air sampel berkisar 1,14 hingga 1,90% (memenuhi standar anhidrat industri), dengan kemurnian Ca(NO3)2 yang dihitung dari neraca massa < 90%. Uji VOD dengan metode Dautriche pada formulasi emulsi curah garam ganda menghasilkan rata-rata kecepatan detonasi sebesar 2,9 hingga 3,0 m/s, setara dengan produk komersial. Penelitian ini membuktikan potensi batu kapur lokal sebagai prekursor Ca(NO3)2 pada skala industri.       Calcium nitrate (Ca(NO3)2) is a key inorganic salt in the dual-salt system of emulsion explosives, which is currently largely imported. This study aims to develop a synthesis method for Ca(NO3)2 from Indonesian local limestone via a neutralization route using 65% HNO3, and to evaluate its performance as an oxidizer in bulk emulsion. Three formulations (F1, F2, F3) with varying molar ratios of HNO3:CaCO3:H2O were prepared at 45 °C with stirring at 500 rpm, followed by concentration, crystallization in an ice bath, and vacuum drying at 220 °C. Characterization was conducted using FTIR, ICP-OES, and Karl Fischer titration. The results showed that the moisture content of the samples ranged from 1.14 to 1.90% (meeting industrial-anhydrous standards), with a Ca(NO3)2 purity calculated from mass balance < 90%. The VOD test using the Dautriche method on the dual-salt bulk emulsion formulations yielded an average detonation velocity of 2.9 to 3.0 km/s, comparable to commercial products. This research demonstrates the potential of local limestone as a precursor for industrial-scale Ca(NO3)2.
