dc.description.abstractCendawan endofit diketahui mampu menghasilkan metabolit sekunder yang berpotensi sebagai antimikrob dan telah banyak diisolasi dari berbagai tanaman herbal seperti tanaman rosemary. Rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus Spenn.) merupakan anggota dari famili Lamiaceae yang mengandung berbagai metabolit sekunder. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji potensi cendawan endofit asal daun rosemary sebagai penghasil antimikrob terhadap bakteri Escherichia coli ATCC 8739 dan Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 serta khamir Candida albicans ATCC 10231. Aktivitas antibakteri terhadap E. coli dan S. aureus serta aktivitas anticendawan terhadap C. albicans diuji menggunakan metode agar plug assay. Identifikasi cendawan endofit dilakukan berdasarkan morfologi makroskopis dan mikroskopis. Sebanyak 10 isolat cendawan endofit diperoleh dari 12 potongan daun rosemary yang tidak tua dan tidak muda (daun dewasa) selama inkubasi 3–7 hari. Namun hanya empat isolat yang dapat diuji potensinya. Keempat isolat tersebut tidak menghasilkan zona hambat terhadap E. coli maupun S. aureus. Hanya isolat RE1 dan RE2 yang memiliki aktivitas anticendawan terhadap C. albicans dengan kategori lemah (= 5 mm), sedangkan dua isolat lainnya tidak menunjukkan aktivitasnya. RE1 dan RE2 serta RE3 merupakan Acremonium spp., sedangkan RE4 sebagai miselia steril. Sebanyak empat isolat cendawan endofit asal daun rosemary menunjukkan kurang potensial sebagai antimikrob terhadap E. coli dan S. aureus serta C. albicans.
dc.description.abstractEndophytic fungi from medicinal plants, such as rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus Spenn.), a member of the Lamiaceae family, are valuable sources of bioactive secondary metabolites. This study aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial potential of endophytic fungi isolated from rosemary leaves against Escherichia coli ATCC 8739, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, and Candida albicans ATCC 10231. Antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aureus, as well as antifungal activity against C. albicans, was evaluated using the agar plug assay. Endophytic fungal isolates were characterized based on their macroscopic and microscopic morphology. Ten isolates were obtained from 12 segments of fully expanded rosemary leaves after 3–7 days of incubation; however, only four isolates were evaluated for antimicrobial activity. The antibacterial assay demonstrated that none of the isolates produced inhibition zones against E. coli or S. aureus. However, isolates RE1 and RE2 exhibited weak antifungal activity (= 5 mm) against C. albicans, whereas the remaining isolates showed no activity. Based on morphological characteristics, isolates RE1, RE2, and RE3 were identified as Acremonium spp., while RE4 was identified as mycelia sterilia. Overall, the four endophytic fungal isolates showed limited antimicrobial potential against E. coli, S. aureus, and C. albicans.
