Pengaturan jarak tanam merupakan salah satu upaya untuk mengoptimalkan populasi tanaman dan meningkatkan produktivitas padi. Penelitian ini bertujuan memperoleh populasi optimum melalui pengaturan jarak tanam yang memberikan pengaruh terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil padi varietas IPB 15S. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Sawah Baru IPB, Dramaga, Bogor, pada September 2025 hingga Januari 2026. Percobaan menggunakan Rancangan Kelompok Lengkap Teracak (RKLT) faktor tunggal berupa enam perlakuan jarak tanam, yaitu tegel 22 cm × 22 cm, tegel 25 cm × 25 cm, tegel 25 cm × 20 cm, jajar legowo 4:1 25 cm × 20 cm, tegel 30 cm × 15 cm dan jajar legowo 4:1 30 cm × 15 cm, dengan tiga ulangan. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis ragam dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengaturan jarak tanam berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman umur 7 dan 8 MST, jumlah anakan, jumlah malai per rumpun, bobot gabah per rumpun, dan produktivitas rumpun. Sebaliknya, panjang dan lebar daun bendera, panjang malai, jumlah gabah per malai, jumlah gabah isi, jumlah gabah hampa, bobot tajuk, bobot akar, bobot 1000 butir, bobot per petak, dan produktivitas tidak dipengaruhi oleh perlakuan jarak tanam. Perlakuan jajar legowo 4:1 dengan jarak tanam 25 cm × 20 cm memberikan respons terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil padi varietas IPB 15S. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem tanam jajar legowo 4:1 berpotensi meningkatkan efisiensi pemanfaatan ruang tumbuh dan produktivitas tanaman padi varietas IPB 15S. Plant spacing arrangement is one of the approaches to optimize plant population and improve rice productivity. This study aimed to determine the optimum plant population through planting spacing arrangements that provide the best growth and yield performance of IPB 15S rice. The experiment was conducted at the Sawah Baru Experimental Farm, IPB University, Dramaga, Bogor, from September 2025 to January 2026. The experimental design was arranged in a complete block design with three replications consisting six planting spaces: tegel 22 cm × 22 cm, tegel 25 cm × 25 cm, tegel 25 cm × 20 cm, jajar legowo 4:1 25 cm × 20 cm, tegel 30 cm × 15 cm and jajar legowo 4:1 30 cm × 15 cm. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test at the 5% significance level. The results showed that planting spacing significantly affected plant height at 7 and 8 weeks after transplanting, number of tillers, number of panicles per hill, grain weight per hill, and hill productivity. However, flag leaf length and width, panicle length, number of grains per panicle, filled grains, unfilled grains, shoot dry weight, root dry weight, 1000-grain weight, plot yield, and plot productivity were not significantly affected. The jajar legowo 4:1 system with a spacing of 25 cm × 20 cm produced the best growth and yield performance of IPB 15S rice. These findings indicate that the jajar legowo 4:1 planting system has the potential to improve space-use efficiency and rice productivity
