      Abstract
      Tumpangsari merupakan salah satu strategi intensifikasi pertanian yang dapat meningkatkan efisiensi penggunaan lahan melalui pemanfaatan sumber daya yang lebih optimal. Pengaturan arah baris tanam dan pola tanam berpotensi mempengaruhi pertumbuhan, hasil, serta interaksi antar tanaman dalam sistem tumpangsari. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh arah baris tanam dan pola tanam terhadap pertumbuhan, hasil, dan efisiensi penggunaan lahan pada tumpangsari jagung manis (Zea mays saccharata Sturt) dan ubi jalar (Ipomoea batatas). Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Leuwikopo IPB University, Bogor, pada November 2025 hingga Maret 2026 menggunakan rancangan Split plot dua faktor dengan empat ulangan. Faktor pertama yaitu arah baris tanam sebagai petak utama dengan dua taraf yaitu arah baris tanam timur-barat (A1) dan utara-selatan (A2). Faktor kedua yaitu pola tanam yang terdiri dari empat taraf yaitu tumpangsari 1 dengan satu baris ubi jalar (B1), tumpangsari 2 dengan dua baris ubi jalar (B2), monokultur jagung (B3) dan monokultur ubi jalar (B4). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tumpangsari satu baris ubi jalar meningkatkan produktivitas jagung manis, sedangkan tumpangsari dua baris ubi jalar meningkatkan produktivitas ubi jalar. Seluruh kombinasi tumpangsari menghasilkan Nisbah Kesetaraan Lahan (NKL) lebih besar dari satu, menunjukkan bahwa sistem tumpangsari jagung manis dan ubi jalar lebih efisien dibandingkan sistem monokultur. Berdasarkan nilai agresivitas dan competitive ratio (CR), ubi jalar lebih dominan pada sistem tumpangsari yang diterapkan. Kombinasi arah baris timur-barat dengan satu baris ubi jalar (A1B1) menghasilkan nilai NKL tertinggi, sedangkan kombinasi arah baris utara-selatan dengan dua baris ubi jalar (A2B2) menghasilkan nilai Actual yield loss (AYL) tertinggi.
       
      Intercropping is an agricultural intensification strategy that can improve land-use efficiency through more effective utilization of available resources. Row orientation and planting pattern are among the factors that may influence crop growth, yield, and interspecific interactions in an intercropping system. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of row orientation and planting pattern on growth, yield, and land-use efficiency in a sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt)-sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) intercropping system. The experiment was conducted at the Leuwikopo Experimental Farm, IPB University, Bogor, from November 2025 to March 2026 using a two-factor Split-plot design with four replications. The main plot factor was planting row orientation, consisting of east-west (A1) and north-south (A2) orientations. The subplot factor was planting pattern, consisting of four treatments:intercropping with one row of sweet potato (B1), intercropping with two rows of sweet potato (B2), sweet corn monoculture (B3) and sweet potato monoculture (B4). The results showed that intercropping with one row of sweet potato increased sweet corn productivity, whereas with two rows of sweet potato increased sweet potato productivity. All intercropping combinations produced a Land Equivalent Ratio (LER) greater than one, indicating that the sweet corn-sweet potato intercropping system was more efficient than the corresponding monoculture system. Based on the aggressivity and competitive ratio (CR) values, sweet potato was the dominant crop in the intercropping system. The combination of east-west row orientation with one row of sweet potato (A1B1) produced the highest LER value, while the combination of north-south row orientation with two rows of sweet potato (A2B2) resulted in the highest Actual Yield Loss (AYL) value.
