      Abstract

This study analyzes differences in growth performance and survival rate of koi fish reared in concrete and mudpond, and assesses the business feasibility of koi fish grow-out at PT Tirta Akatsuki Solaris. Data were gathered through participatory observation and in-depth interviews from July to December 2025. Absolute length growth was more optimal in mudpond (25,7 cm on average) than concrete pond (13,5 cm) over three months of rearing (Independent Sample T-test, p < 0,05), conversely, survival rate was higher in concrete pond (100%) than mudpond (86,3%). Both systems are also feasible in market, technical, managerial, socio-economic, and environmental aspects. Over a 10-year horizon, the concrete pond (NPV Rp983.220.596, IRR 18%, PP 6,06 years),mudpond (NPV Rp5.042.797.045, IRR 72%, PP 3,12 years), and combined pond (NPV Rp6.093.777.052, IRR 46%, PP 3,70 years) are all financially feasible, with positive NPV and IRR above the 3% discount rate. Mudpond and combined pond show markedly higher profit efficiency than concrete pond.
