      Abstract
Corn cob waste is rich in cellulose, making it potentially useful as a reinforcing material for environmentally friendly bioplastics. This study aims to optimize the isolation of cellulose from corn cobs and analyze its impact on the quality of bioplastics made from cassava starch. The cellulose isolation process was carried out through delignification using a 10% NaOH solution with variations in the solid-to-solution ratio and particle size. Optimization was carried out using the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) approach. The observed responses included yield, cellulose content, and lignin content. The optimization results showed that the best conditions were achieved at a solid-to-solution ratio of 1:20.62 and a particle size of 512.16 µm with a desirability value of 0.85. The addition of cellulose from the isolation process to bioplastics was proven to improve mechanical properties. This study shows that optimized cellulose isolation from corn cobs has the potential to improve the quality of cassava starch-based bioplastics as an environmentally friendly packaging alternative.
