      Abstract
      Cendana (Santalum album L.) merupakan tanaman hemiparasit bernilai ekonomi tinggi yang memerlukan tanaman inang yang sesuai untuk mendukung pertumbuhannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi komunitas tumbuhan bawah yang berasosiasi dengan pohon cendana di Bogor, serta mengonfirmasi keberhasilan pembentukan haustorium sejati (fungsional). Penelitian dilakukan melalui eksplorasi vegetasi tumbuhan bawah secara destruktif pada radius 1–1,5 meter dari tanaman pohon cendana, identifikasi berdasarkan karakteristik morfologi, serta analisis struktur anatomi sayatan transversal haustorium dengan pewarnaan anilin sulfat. Hasil penelitian menunjukan terdapat 20 spesies tumbuhan bawah dari 11 famili, dengan haustorium hanya ditemukan pada 11 spesies. Haustorium lebih banyak terbentuk pada inang dari famili Fabaceae, khususnya Grona triflora dan Mimosa pudica. Analisis anatomi haustorium menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar inang memiliki kompatibilitas tinggi yang dicirikan oleh kemampuan pasak penetrasi mencapai silinder pusat akar inang dan perkembangan badan hialin yang luas. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa cendana menunjukan selektivitas parasitisme terhadap tumbuhan bawah, ditunjukan tidak semua spesies dimanfaatkan cendana sebagai inang. Penelitian lanjutan diperlukan untuk mengkaji faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi keberhasilan asosiasi tersebut.
       
      Sandalwood (Santalum album L.) is a high-value hemiparasitic plant that requires a suitable host to support its growth. This study aimed to identify the understory plant communities associated with sandalwood trees in Bogor and to confirm the successful formation of true (functional) haustoria. The research involved destructive sampling of understory vegetation within a 1–1.5 meter radius of sandalwood trees, morphological identification, and anatomical analysis of haustorial cross-sections using aniline sulfate staining. The results revealed 20 understory species across 11 families, with haustoria found on only 11 of these species. Haustoria formed most frequently on hosts from the Fabaceae family, specifically Grona triflora and Mimosa pudica. Anatomical analysis indicated that most hosts exhibited high compatibility, characterized by the haustorial peg's ability to penetrate the host root's central cylinder and the development of an extensive hyaline body. The study concludes that sandalwood exhibits parasitic selectivity toward understory plants, as not all species served as hosts. Further research is needed to investigate the factors influencing the success of these association.
