      Abstract

Rice production in Indonesia faces various challenges, including climate change, limited land resources, and the suboptimal utilization of improved rice varieties at the farm level. One strategy to enhance rice productivity is the adoption of improved varieties such as Inpari 32. This study aimed to analyze farm income, compare the performance of rice farming, and identify the factors influencing the adoption of Inpari 32 in Ketawangrejo Village. Primary data were collected from 72 farmers, consisting of 42 Ciherang farmers and 30 Inpari 32 farmers. The data were analyzed using farm income analysis, the Mann–Whitney U test, and binary logistik regression. The results showed that Inpari 32 farming generated higher average revenue, income, and farming efficiency than Ciherang farming. The R/C ratio of Inpari 32 was 2.18, while that of Ciherang was 1.87. The Mann–Whitney U test indicated significant differences in productivity, revenue, and income between the two varieties, whereas total production cost and R/C ratio did not differ significantly. Factors that increased the likelihood of adopting Inpari 32 were farm income and participation in agricultural training. In contrast, farmers' age and land tenure status reduced the likelihood of adopting Inpari 32. Meanwhile, years of education, farm size, extension intensity, farmer group membership, and pesticide costs had no significant effect on the adoption of Inpari 32.
