      Abstract
      Cat tembok ramah lingkungan merupakan produk materil bangunan sebagai upaya mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan dan alternatif bahan perekat alami kasein berasal dari limbah susu dapat membantu mengurangi penggunaan bahan perekat sintetis polyvinyl acetate (PVA). Penelitian ini bertujuan mempelajari level penggunaan kasein susu sebagai bahan perekat alami dalam proses pembuatan cat tembok yang ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan, yaitu sebagai berikut: P0 (PVA 15%), P1 (kasein 10%), P2 (kasein 15%), P3 (kasein 20%). Parameter yang diujikan mencangkup waktu mengering, daya rekat, nilai pH, dan uji ketahanan alkali. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa level penggunaan (kasein 10%) dan (kasein 15%) menunjukkan adanya hasil pengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap parameter lama mengering dan daya rekat (%). Pada uji nilai pH, semua perlakuan dalam kondisi netral. Pada uji ketahanan terhadap alkali, semua perlakuan dalam keadaan yang tergolong cukup tahan terkena bahan alkali. Dengan demikian, perlakuan (kasein 10%) dan (kasein 15%) dapat menjadi rekomendasi sebagai bahan perekat alami dalam pembuatan cat tembok ramah lingkungan.
       
      Environmentaly friendly wall paint is a building material developed to reduce environmental pollution. The use of casein derived from dairy waste as a natural binder provides an alternative to synthetic binders, such as polyvinyl acetate (PVA), thereby reducing the reliance on synthetic materials. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different levels of milk casein as a natural binder in the production of environmentally friendly wall paint. The experiment was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four treatments with three replications: P0 (15% PVA), P1 (10% casein), P2 (15% casein), and P3 (20% casein). The observed parameters included drying time, adhesive strength, pH value, and alkali resistance. The results showed that the (10% casein) and (15% casein) treatments had a significant effect (P < 0.05) on drying time and adhesive strength. The pH values of all treatments were within the neutral range. In addition, all treatments demonstrated satisfactory resistance to alkali exposure. Therefore, the use of 10% and 15% milk casein is recommended as a natural binder in the production of environmentally friendly wall paint.
