| dc.description.abstract | Segara Anakan is a lagoon area with the largest mangrove forest on Java Island. However, the health of the mangroves in this area has been declining, which has the potential to damage the surrounding ecosystem. This study aims to map the health of the mangroves over time from 2019 to 2025 by identifying the levels of greenness and wetness in the canopy. This mapping utilizes Sentinel-2A imagery with the Enhanced Mangrove Index (EMI) algorithm to isolate mangrove areas, as well as the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and the Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) to assess their health. The results show that applying the EMI with a threshold of 0.65 effectively distinguishes mangrove vegetation from other terrestrial plants. Analysis of the NDVI and NDWI revealed fluctuations in canopy greenness and moisture levels from 2021 to 2024. However, the mangroves gradually underwent a change in condition, marked by an increase in greenness and moisture indices in 2025. The accuracy of the findings was validated through a satellite regression correlation with drone data, yielding an R² value of 0.522, and a regression of leaf wetness analysis results with land elevation data as an indicator of tidal connectivity yielding an R² value of 0.699. | |
