Ekosistem terumbu karang berperan penting dalam mendukung
keanekaragaman hayati laut, termasuk komunitas ikan terumbu yang berasosiasi
dengan habitat bentik. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis komposisi bentik,
struktur komunitas ikan terumbu, serta hubungan antara komposisi bentik dan
struktur fungsional ikan terumbu di perairan Kecamatan Kepala Madan, Kabupaten
Buru Selatan. Data bentik dikumpulkan menggunakan metode Underwater Photo
Transect (UPT), sedangkan data ikan terumbu menggunakan Underwater Visual
Census (UVC) pada 15 lokasi penelitian. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan
Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa komposisi bentik
didominasi karang keras (24,77%) dan patahan karang (21,03%), dengan kondisi
terumbu karang umumnya tergolong buruk. Ditemukan 8.652 individu ikan
terumbu dari 214 spesies dan 32 famili, dengan famili Caesionidae sebagai famili
dominan. Struktur fungsional ikan terumbu didominasi kelompok planktivore.
Hasil PCA menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara komposisi bentik dan struktur
fungsional ikan terumbu. Coral reef ecosystems support high marine biodiversity, including reef fish
communities associated with benthic habitats. This study aimed to analyze benthic
composition, reef fish community structure, and their relationship in the waters of
Kepala Madan District, South Buru Regency. Benthic and reef fish data were
collected using Underwater Photo Transect (UPT) and Underwater Visual Census
(UVC) methods at 15 stations. Data were analyzed using Principal Component
Analysis (PCA). Benthic composition was dominated by hard coral (24.77%) and
rubble (21.03%), with most reefs classified as poor. A total of 8,652 reef fish
individuals representing 214 species and 32 families were recorded, with
Caesionidae as the dominant family. The functional structure of reef fish was
dominated by planktivores. PCA showed an association between benthic
composition and reef fish functional structure.
