| dc.description.abstract | In an economy that relies heavily on imported inputs, exchange rate depreciation can increase production costs and generate inflationary pressures through the exchange rate pass-through (ERPT) mechanism. This study aims to examine the impact of exchange rate depreciation on producer inflation, with particular emphasis on the role of Bank Indonesia's credibility. The analysis employs quarterly data covering the period 2011–2025 and utilizes the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach. The findings indicate that a high level of Bank Indonesia's credibility serves as an effective buffer against the inflationary effects of exchange rate depreciation by anchoring firms' inflation expectations. Furthermore, producer inflation in Indonesia is found to be driven predominantly by cost-push factors rather than demand-pull pressures. These findings suggest that monetary authorities should strengthen policy communication targeted at business actors while enhancing coordination with fiscal authorities and relevant ministries to mitigate the transmission of exchange rate shocks to domestic prices. | |
