      Studi Keragaman Genetik pada Populasi F4 Sorgum Hasil Persilangan Demak 4 × Soper 6 Agritan

      Abstract
      Sorgum (Sorghum bicolor [L.] Moench) merupakan tanaman serealia yang memiliki daya adaptasi tinggi terhadap berbagai kondisi lingkungan. Pengembangan sorgum terus dilakukan karena sorgum berpotensi sebagai sumber pangan, pakan, dan bioenergi. Produktivitas sorgum yang masih tergolong rendah memerlukan upaya peningkatan melalui perakitan varietas unggul. Penelitian ini bertujuan memperoleh informasi keragaman karakter agronomi populasi F4 hasil persilangan Demak 4 × Soper 6 Agritan, menganalisis aksi gen yang mengendalikan karakter kuantitatif, serta memperoleh informasi karakter unggul dengan daya hasil lebih tinggi dibandingkan tetuanya. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Oktober 2025 hingga April 2026 di Kebun Percobaan Sawah Baru IPB, Bogor. Bahan yang digunakan terdiri atas 507 genotipe F4 Demak 4 × Soper 6 Agritan serta tetua Demak 4 dan Soper 6 Agritan sebagai pembanding ditanam menggunakan metode Single Seed Descent (SSD). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya keragaman karakter agronomi dan komponen hasil pada populasi F4. Karakter kuantitatif dikendalikan oleh aksi gen aditif, epistasis aditif, epistasis duplikat, dan epistasis komplementer dengan kecenderungan jumlah gen pengendali yang sedikit. Karakter bobot biji per malai memiliki nilai heritabilitas dan koefisien keragaman genetik kategori tinggi. Seleksi dengan intensitas 20% pada karakter bobot biji per malai diperkirakan mampu meningkatkan nilai karakter sebesar 41% pada generasi selanjutnya.
       
      Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor [L.] Moench) is a cereal crop with high adaptability to diverse environmental conditions and has potential as a source of food, feed, and bioenergy. However, its relatively low productivity requires improvement through the development of superior varieties. This study aimed to evaluate the agronomic variability of the F4 population derived from the cross between Demak 4 and Soper 6 Agritan, analyze the gene actions controlling quantitative traits, and identify superior characters with higher yield potential than the parental lines. The research was conducted from October 2025 to April 2026 at Sawah Baru Experimental Field IPB, Bogor. A total of 507 F4 genotypes, along with the parental lines Demak 4 and Soper 6 Agritan, were evaluated using the Single Seed Descent (SSD) method.The results showed variability in agronomic traits and yield components within the F4 population. Quantitative traits were controlled by additive gene action, additive epistasis, duplicate epistasis, and complementary epistasis, with a tendency for a small number of controlling genes. Grain weight per panicle exhibited high heritability and a high genetic coefficient of variation. Selection at 20% intensity based on grain weight per panicle was predicted to increase the trait value by 41% in the subsequent generation
