      Abstract
WILDA NA MORA SIREGAR.

WILDA NA MORA SIREGAR. Synthesis of Natural Zeolite Composite Photocatalyst-TiO2/ZnO/CuO for Photodegradation of Methylene Blue Dye. Supervised by KOMAR SUTRIAH and SRI MULIJANI. The textile industry produces liquid waste containing synthetic dyes, one of which is methylene blue, which is carcinogenic, mutagenic and resistant to natural degradation but can be overcome through photodegradation using a photocatalyst. This research aims to evaluate the suitability of the optimum ratio of natural zeolite-TiO2/ZnO when applied to the natural zeolite-TiO2/ZnO/CuO (ZA-TZC) system, to determine the best composition, and to characterize the material and its reaction kinetics. The photocatalyst was synthesized using coprecipitation and impregnation methods with various ratios. Photodegradation data were analyzed using two way ANOVA with replication. The ZA:TZC ratio of 75:25 was confirmed as the best composition with the highest degradation percentage of 92,42% under 18 W UV and 10 W visible light irradiation. ANOVA results proved that irradiation and photocatalyst composition had a significant effect on the degradation percentage. XRD characterization confirmed the success of the synthesis. The photodegradation reaction kinetics followed a first-order model. The ZA:TZC (75:25) composite has the potential to be developed as a photocatalyst for the treatment of liquid waste containing methylene blue dye.
