      Multidrug Resistance dan Pembentukan Biofilm pada Isolat Escherichia coli dari Kucing

      Abstract
      Kucing sebagai hewan peliharaan yang hidup dekat dengan manusia berpotensi menjadi sumber penyebaran bakteri resistan antibiotik, termasuk Escherichia coli. Selain resistansi, pembentukan biofilm perlu diperhatikan karena meningkatkan ketahanan bakteri terhadap tekanan lingkungan, termasuk antibiotik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi multidrug resistance pada isolat Escherichia coli asal kucing, mengetahui aktivitas pembentukan biofilm pada isolat Escherichia coli yang diperoleh, dan menganalisis hubungan antara sifat multidrug resistance dengan kemampuan pembentukan biofilm. Sebanyak 15 isolat diuji menggunakan metode difusi cakram Kirby-Bauer untuk sensitivitas antibiotik (Ampisillin, Aztreonam, Penisillin G, Metronidazol, Gentamisin, Tetrasiklin, Enrofloksasin) dan metode Congo Red Agar untuk deteksi biofilm. Hasil menunjukkan 7 dari 15 isolat tergolong multidrug resistance. Enam dari 15 isolat mampu membentuk biofilm yang ditandai koloni berwarna gelap dan bertekstur kering. Analisis uji Fisher’s Exact Test menunjukkan tidak ada hubungan signifikan antara multidrug resistance dan pembentukan biofilm (p>0,05). Disimpulkan bahwa Escherichia coli menunjukkan kemampuan sebagai bakteri multidrug resistance dan mampu membentuk biofilm. Tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara multidrug resistance dan pembentukan biofilm. Cats, as pets that live close to humans, have the potential to become a source of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, including Escherichia coli. In addition to resistance, biofilm formation is important to consider because it increases bacterial resistance to environmental stress, including antibiotics. The purpose of this study was to identify multidrug resistance in Escherichia coli isolates from cats, determine the biofilm-forming activity of the obtained Escherichia coli isolates, and analyze the relationship between multidrug resistance and biofilm-forming ability. A total of 15 isolates were tested using the Kirby- Bauer disc diffusion method for antibiotic sensitivity (Ampicillin, Aztreonam, Penicillin G, Metronidazole, Gentamicin, Tetracycline, Enrofloxacin) and the Congo Red Agar method for biofilm detection. The results showed that 7 of the 15 isolates were classified as multidrug resistant because they were resistant to three or more classes of antibiotics. 6 of the 15 isolates were able to form biofilms, as indicated by dark-colored colonies and a dry texture. Fisher's Exact Test analysis showed no significant relationship between multidrug resistance and biofilm formation (p>0.05). It was concluded that Escherichia coli exhibited multidrug resistance and the ability to form biofilms, yet there was no significant relationship between multidrug resistance and biofilm formation.
