K DEMA MARISKA. Pengembangan Sagu (Metroxylon sp.) di Kawasan Transmigrasi Kecamatan Bomberay. Dibimbing oleh TRI BUDIARTO dan H.M.H. BINTORO DJOEFRIE.
T DEMA MARISKA. Development of Sago (Metroxylon sp.) in the Transmigration Area of Bomberay Subdistrict. Supervised by TRI BUDIARTO and H.M.H. BINTORO DJOEFRIE. Sago (Metroxylon sp.) is a plant with potential for development as a food source in Bomberay Subdistrict. The study aimed to identify the distribution of sago-growing areas, analyze production characteristics, farmer income, and community interest in sago-derived products in the transmigration area of Bomberay Subdistrict, Fakfak Regency, West Papua. The study was conducted from September to December 2025 using mixed methods. Data were collected through spatial analysis, field observations, interviews, and questionnaires. The results indicate that the transmigration area in Bomberay Subdistrict has a sago cultivation area of 4.005.29 ha. The potential sago starch production is 3.5 times greater than the community’s annual food needs. Analysis of the highest income for sago farmers was Rp28.294.334 per month, and 77% of respondents expressed interest in developing sago-based products following the demonstration activities. The findings indicate that sago holds significant potential for development in the Bomberay Subdistrict transmigration area through the utilization of available resources, increased economic value, and the development of sago-based products. Keywords: transmigration areas, sago development, sago (Metroxylon sp.)
