      Abstract

Rice cultivation under flooded conditions can generate methane (CH4) emissions due to the activity of anaerobic microorganisms. Fine Bubble Technology (FBT) was applied to increase dissolved oxygen (DO) in floodwater, while water level (WL) influences conditions favorable for CH4 formation. This study aimed to analyze differences in CH4 flux among four treatment combinations consisting of WTL, irrigation system, and FBT application, as well as to evaluate the relationships of DO and WTL with CH4 flux. The study was conducted from January to June 2026 using four treatment scenarios: FBT with Subsurface Irrigation (FBT-IBP), FBT with Surface Irrigation (FBT-IP), Non-FBT IBP, and Non-FBT IP. Welch ANOVA showed significant differences in CH4 flux among the four treatment combinations (p < 0.05). The highest CH4 flux was observed in FBT-IP (668.89 kg/ha/season), while the lowest was found in Non-FBT IBP (56.69 kg/ha/season). FBT increased floodwater DO. However, the relationship between DO and CH4 flux was generally weak and inconsistent. Under Non-FBT conditions, WTL showed a significant positive relationship with CH4 flux.
