African catfish Clarias gariepinus is a high-value freshwater commodity that is widely cultured in Indonesia. One of the factors contributing to production failure in African catfish farming is unsuitable environmental conditions, which result in low survival during the juvenile stage. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of rearing tank color on the growth performance and survival of juvenile African catfish using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) over a 60-day rearing period. The treatments consisted of a transparent (uncolored) tank as the control (TW), blue tank (WBU), green tank (WHU), and black tank (WHM). The results showed that the blue tank produced the highest productivity, with an absolute length gain of 4.05±0.08 cm, an absolute weight gain of 3.08±0.03 g, a specific growth rate of 4.93±0.25% day?¹, a feed conversion ratio of 1.31±0.08, a survival rate of 75.93±3.21%, a blood glucose level of 49.60±1.21 mg dL?¹, light intensity close to the recommended standard, and a cost efficiency of 87.30%. These findings indicate that the blue rearing tank was the most effective treatment in this study and has the potential to improve the productivity of juvenile african catfish.
