      Variasi Antarspesies Konduktivitas Hidrolik Pembuluh Xilem Batang Pohon di Hutan Bukit Duabelas, Jambi

      Abstract
      Pembuluh xilem merupakan jaringan vaskuler yang berperan penting dalam transpor air dan unsur hara dari akar ke tajuk. Kemampuan pembuluh xilem mentranspor air salah satunya dipengaruhi oleh konduktivitas hidrolik potensial (Kp) pembuluh xilem batang. Kemampuan pembuluh xilem berbeda antarspesies, meskipun berada pada kondisi ekologi yang sama. Hal ini menunjukkan adanya variasi adaptasi fisiologis. Analisis Kp pembuluh xilem pada ranting pohon telah dilakukan, namun data untuk bagian batang, terutama di Hutan Bukit Duabelas, Jambi, masih belum tersedia. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis variasi antarspesies konduktivitas hidrolik pembuluh xilem batang pohon di Hutan Bukit Duabelas. Nilai Kp dihitung menggunakan persamaan Hagen-Poiseuille pada 95 sampel anatomi xilem batang. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa nilai Kp pembuluh xilem batang pohon di Hutan Bukit Duabelas berkisar antara 1,006–307,707 kg m?¹ MPa?¹ s?¹ dengan rata-rata 48,791 kg m?¹ MPa?¹ s?¹. Sebaran nilai Kp tersebut membentuk pola yang terpusat pada kategori rendah hingga sedang. Nilai Kp pembuluh xilem batang dari data gabungan berkorelasi positif secara nyata dengan rasio luas lumen terhadap luas area xilem (Al:Ax), namun berkorelasi negatif terhadap kerapatan dan jumlah pembuluh xilem. Ketiadaan korelasi antara Kp dan Al:Ax pada kategori Kp rendah menunjukkan adanya pembatasan konduktivitas hidrolik oleh struktur membran noktah.
       
      Xylem vessels are vascular tissues that play a crucial role in the transport of water and nutrients from the roots to the canopy. The ability of xylem vessels to transport water is influenced, in part, by the potential hydraulic conductivity (Kp) of the stem’s xylem vessels. Xylem vessel capacity varies among species, even under identical ecological conditions. This indicates the presence of physiological adaptations. Analyses of xylem conduit Kp in tree branches have been conducted, but data for stem sections, particularly in the Bukit Duabelas Forest, Jambi, are still unavailable. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the interspecific variation in the hydraulic conductivity of stem xylem vessels in tree trunks from the Bukit Duabelas Forest. Kp values were calculated using the Hagen-Poiseuille equation on 95 xylem anatomy samples from tree trunks. The results showed that Kp values for xylem vessels in tree trunks in the Bukit Duabelas Forest ranged from 1,006 to 307,707 kg m?¹ MPa?¹ s?¹, with an average of 48,791 kg m?¹ MPa?¹ s?¹. The distribution of these Kp values forms a pattern centered in the low to moderate range. The Kp values of stem xylem vessels from the combined dataset showed a significant positive correlation with the ratio of lumen area to xylem area (Al:Ax), but a negative correlation with xylem vessel density and number. The absence of correlation between Kp and Al:Ax in the low Kp category indicates a possible limitation of hydraulic conductivity by pit membrane structure.
