      Strategi Konservasi Berdasarkan Sistem Ekologi Lamun di Gili Air

      Abstract
      Ekosistem lamun merupakan ekosistem pesisir yang memiliki peran penting dalam menjaga keseimbangan lingkungan pesisir sebagai produsen primer, habitat berbagai biota laut untuk mencari makan, berkembang biak, berlindung, serta penyerap karbon. Aktivitas antropogenik di sekitar pesisir Gili Air seperti aktivitas wisata, lalu lintas kapal/perahu, pembangunan pesisir dan lainnya dapat mempengaruhi ekosistem lamun baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis sistem ekologi ekosistem lamun serta merumuskan strategi konservasi ekosistem lamun di Gili Air. Penelitian dilakukan di Gili Air dengan melakukan observasi langsung dan kuesioner dengan metode purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sistem ekologi yang cukup baik dengan ditemukan 5 jenis lamun, yaitu Thalassia hemprichii, Cymodocea rotundata, Cymodocea serrulata, Halodule pinifolia, dan Halophila ovalis. Kondisi lamun memiliki kerapatan dengan kategori dominan agak rapatrapat dan penutupan dengan kategori dominan baik, Jenis lamun Thalassia hemprichii dan Cymodocea rotundata menjadi spesies dominan berdasarkan hasil INP. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kedua spesies tersebut berperan sebagai spesies kunci dan berperan penting bagi komunitas lamun di Gili Air. Strategi prioritas yang direkomendasikan dalam upaya konservasi ekosistem lamun di Gili Air diantaranya yaitu, (1) Mengoptimalkan potensi sumberdaya lamun untuk pengembangan wisata melalui pendekatan konservasi, (2) Menguatkan sistem kelembagaan dalam pengelolaan ekosistem lamun Gili Air dan (3) Meningkatkan kualitas masyarakat dan wisatawan dalam mendukung konservasi lamun
       
      Seagrass ecosystems are coastal ecosystems that play a vital role in maintaining coastal environmental balance by acting as primary producers, providing habitats for various marine biota offering areas for foraging, breeding, and shelter and serving as carbon sinks. Anthropogenic activities along the coast of Gili Air such as tourism, boat traffic, and coastal development can directly or indirectly impact the seagrass ecosystem. This study aimed to analyze the ecological system of the seagrass ecosystem and formulate conservation strategies for the seagrass ecosystem in Gili Air. The research was conducted on Gili Air using direct observation and questionnaires based on a purposive sampling method. The results indicate a relatively healthy ecological system, with five seagrass species identified Thalassia hemprichii, Cymodocea rotundata, Cymodocea serrulata, Halodule pinifolia, and Halophila ovalis. The seagrass beds exhibited a density predominantly categorized as moderately dense and a percentage cover predominantly categorized as good. Based on the Index of importance (INP) Thalassia hemprichii and Cymodocea rotundata were identified as the dominant species, indicating that they act as key species and play a crucial role in the seagrass community of Gili Air. Recommended priority strategies for seagrass ecosystem conservation in Gili Air include: (1) optimizing seagrass resource potential for tourism development through a conservation-oriented approach, (2) strengthening institutional systems for managing the Gili Air seagrass ecosystem, and (3) enhancing the awareness and engagement of local communities and tourists in supporting seagrass conservation.
