      Pengaruh Karakteristik Akar Vetiver Terhadap Kekuatan Geser Pada Tanah Lempung

      Abstract
      Indonesia, khususnya Pulau Jawa, merupakan daerah yang sering mengalami bencana longsor yang mengancam keselamatan masyarakat di wilayah rawan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh karakteristik akar vetiver yang meliputi diameter (0,3; 0,6; 0,9 mm), bobot terhadap massa tanah (0,25; 0,50; 0,75; 1,00%), dan kuat tarik akar terhadap kuat geser tanah sebagai upaya mitigasi longsor. Metode penelitian meliputi pengujian sifat fisik tanah, pembuatan sampel dengan variasi diameter dan bobot akar, serta pengujian kuat geser tanah dan kuat tarik akar. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik akar vetiver mampu meningkatkan parameter kuat geser tanah secara signifikan, dengan nilai kohesi tertinggi sebesar 2,91 kPa pada diameter 0,3 mm dan bobot 1,00%. Nilai kuat tarik akar tertinggi juga diperoleh pada kondisi yang sama sebesar 97,05 MPa. Berdasarkan perhitungan numerik, dikembangkan persamaan bertingkat untuk memprediksi nilai kohesi tanah dengan persamaan c = 0,0077T + 1,11 yang memiliki nilai R² sebesar 0,828, dengan T sebagai kuat tarik yang didapatkan berdasarkan persamaan T = 95,41B - 30,49D yang memiliki nilai R²sebesar 0,816 dengan B sebagai bobot akar terhadap massa tanah dan D sebagai diameter akar.
       
      Indonesia, particularly the island of Java, frequently experiences landslides that threaten communities in vulnerable areas. This study aims to evaluate the effect of vetiver root characteristics, including root diameter (0.3, 0.6, and 0.9 mm), root weight relative to soil mass (0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 1.00%), and root tensile strength on soil shear strength as a landslide mitigation effort. The research methods included physical soil property testing, preparation of samples with variations in root diameter and weight, and testing of soil shear strength and root tensile strength. The results showed that vetiver root characteristics significantly improved soil shear strength parameters, with the highest cohesion value of 2.91 kPa obtained at a root diameter of 0.3 mm and a root weight of 1.00%. The highest root tensile strength was also observed under the same conditions, reaching 97.05 MPa. Based on numerical analysis, a hierarchical prediction model was developed to estimate cohesion using the equation c = 0.0077T + 1.11 (R² = 0.828), where T represents root tensile strength predicted by the equation T = 95.41B - 30.49D (R² = 0.816), with B representing root weight relative to soil mass and D representing root diameter.
