      Abstract

Malaria is an infectious disease that occurs in endemic areas, especially in Papua. This disease is transmitted through the bite of a female Anopheles mosquito carrying the Plasmodium parasite of the P. falciparum or P. vivax type. This study aims to reconstruct the spread of malaria using the SEITRS mathematical model by observing the forward bifurcation phenomenon in the model. The steps taken are determining the basic reproduction number (R0), stability analysis, and conducting numerical simulations and interpreting the results. In this study, two fixed points were obtained: a disease-free fixed point and an endemic fixed point. The disease-free fixed point is stable if R0 < 1, and the endemic fixed point is stable if R0 > 1, and a forward bifurcation phenomenon was found that affects the continuity of the disease in the population. The results of the numerical simulation indicate that to suppress the spread of malaria, a combination of strategies can be carried out that reduce the rate of transmission and reduce the mosquito population by increasing the mortality rate.
