dc.description.abstractKualitas air baku Kali Jagir yang digunakan oleh PERUMDAM Surya Sembada Kota Surabaya sering mengalami peningkatan kekeruhan dan Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), sehingga diperlukan alternatif koagulan yang lebih ramah lingkungan. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak buah maja dalam menurunkan kadar pencemar air baku dan membandingkannya dengan PAC. Biokoagulan dibuat melalui metode maserasi menggunakan etanol 96%, kemudian dianalisis kadar tanin dengan metode Folin-Denis dan gugus fungsi menggunakan Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). Efektivitasnya diuji menggunakan metode jar test pada dosis 50, 60, 75, 85, 100, 200, dan 300 ppm. Hasil penelitian ekstrak buah maja memiliki pH 5 dengan kadar tanin sebesar 0,652–0,667% serta mengandung gugus fungsi O–H, C–H, C=O, dan C–O. Efisiensi penurunan kekeruhan tertinggi mencapai 89% pada dosis 100 ppm yang dikategorikan sangat efektif, sedangkan penurunan TDS hanya 6,37%. Hasil uji Kruskal-Wallis menunjukkan bahwa variasi dosis tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap penurunan kekeruhan maupun TDS (>0,05). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa buah maja berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai biokoagulan, terutama untuk menurunkan kekeruhan air.
dc.description.abstractThe raw water quality of the Kali Jagir River, used by PERUMDAM Surya Sembada Surabaya, often experiences increases in turbidity and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), highlighting the need for environmentally friendly coagulant alternatives. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Aegle marmelos (bael fruit) extract in reducing raw water contaminants and to compare its performance with Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC). The biocoagulant was prepared through maceration using 96% ethanol, followed by tannin analysis using the Folin–Denis method and functional group characterization using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Its effectiveness was evaluated through a jar test at doses of 50, 60, 75, 85, 100, 200, and 300 ppm. The results showed that the bael fruit extract had a pH of 5 and a tannin content ranging from 0.652% to 0.667%, with the presence of O–H, C–H, C=O, and C–O functional groups. The highest turbidity removal efficiency reached 89% at a dose of 100 ppm and was categorized as highly effective, whereas the highest TDS reduction was only 6.37%. The Kruskal–Wallis test indicated that dose variations had no significant effect on turbidity and TDS removal (p > 0.05). These findings suggest that Aegle marmelos has potential as a natural biocoagulant, particularly for turbidity reduction in water treatment.
