      Priming dan Film Coating dengan Mikronutrien untuk Meningkatkan Toleransi Benih Jagung terhadap Kekeringan Fase Perkecambahan

      Abstract
      Cekaman kekeringan merupakan faktor lingkungan yang membatasi perkecambahan dan pertumbuhan awal jagung. Upaya meningkatkan toleransi benih dapat dilakukan melalui invigorasi menggunakan teknik priming dan film coating dengan mikronutrien. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi efektivitas priming dan film coating benih jagung menggunakan seng (Zn), silikon (Si), dan selenium (Se), baik secara tunggal maupun kombinasi, untuk meningkatkan toleransi terhadap cekaman kekeringan pada fase perkecambahan. Percobaan disusun menggunakan rancangan petak terbagi dalam rancangan kelompok lengkap teracak dengan empat ulangan. Petak utama adalah tingkat cekaman kekeringan (tanpa cekaman dan 10% PEG 6000), dan anak petak adalah perlakuan invigorasi. Priming dilakukan selama 24 jam pada suhu 20°C dan coating menggunakan natrium alginat. Peubah yang diamati meliputi indeks vigor, daya berkecambah, radicle emergence, kecepatan tumbuh, bobot kering kecambah normal, dan laju pertumbuhan kecambah. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa cekaman kekeringan menurunkan viabilitas dan vigor benih. Namun, priming dan film coating dengan mikronutrien meningkatkan mutu fisiologis benih pada kondisi normal maupun cekaman terhadap semua peubah. Kombinasi mikronutrien lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan mikronutrien tunggal. Perlakuan terbaik adalah priming Zn + Si + Se, diikuti oleh coating Zn + Si + Se.
       
      Drought stress is an environmental factor that limits maize germination and early growth. Seed tolerance can be improved through invigoration using priming and film coating techniques with micronutrients. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of priming and film coating of maize seeds using zinc (Zn), silicon (Si), and selenium (Se), applied individually or in combination, in enhancing tolerance to drought stress during germination. The experiment used a split-plot design within a randomized complete block design with four replications. The main plot was drought stress level (no stress and 10% PEG 6000), and the subplot was seed invigoration treatment. Priming was conducted for 24 hours at 20°C, and the film coating used sodium alginate. Observed variables included vigor index, germination percentage, radicle emergence, growth rate, dry weight of normal seedlings, and seedling growth rate. Results showed that drought stress reduced seed viability and vigor. However, priming and film coating with micronutrients improved seed physiological quality under both normal and stress conditions across all variables. Micronutrient combinations were more effective than single micronutrients. The best treatment was priming Zn + Si + Se, followed by coating Zn + Si + Se.
