      Abstract

Community forests play a crucial role in meeting the community's wood needs, particularly for traditional communities such as the Outer Baduy in Kanekes Village. This study examines the sengon forest management system and household wood needs. Data collection was conducted through a survey of 80 respondents in four villages and measurements of sengon stands. Management is carried out traditionally using natural seed sources and without land cultivation. The potential and volume of stands reached 44.06 cubic meters/hectare. The need for building wood is divided into three types of building wood (pillars, rafters, and wooden planks) and the contribution of sengon wood to house building needs is only for rafter material and the need for firewood with an average of 0.20 cubic meters per head of family per day, and the frequency of firewood collection is low, namely twice per week with each time taking two bundles of firewood. These results indicate the great potential of sengon community forests to meet wood needs independently.
