      Minyak Nilam Bebas Besi Menggunakan Adsorben Resin Amberlite IR 120

      Abstract
      Minyak nilam yang disuling menggunakan ketel berbahan besi berpotensi terkontaminasi oleh ion besi. Kontaminasi ini membuat warna minyak menjadi gelap sehingga menurunkan kualitasnya di pasaran. Berbagai metode penurunan kadar besi telah dilakukan, termasuk adsorpsi. Salah satu adsorben yang dapat digunakan adalah resin Amberlite IR 120. Efektivitas adsorpsi ini dipengaruhi oleh waktu kontak dan bobot adsorben. Penelitian ini bertujuan menurunkan kadar besi dalam minyak nilam menggunakan resin, mengevaluasi pengaruh waktu kontak dan bobot adsorben pada kadar akhir besi tersisa, dan potensi penggunaan resin secara berulang. Pengaruh waktu kontak (4 hingga 12 jam) dan bobot adsorben (4 hingga 8 g) pada kadar akhir besi tersisa dianalisis menggunakan metode permukaan respons. Hasilnya menunjukkan penurunan kadar besi hingga 1,149 mg/kg dengan efisiensi adsorpsi 98,55% yang diperoleh pada waktu kontak 12 jam dan bobot adsorben 8 g. Kedua faktor berpengaruh signifikan pada respons. Uji reusabilitas resin menunjukkan bahwa resin dapat digunakan hingga dua kali siklus adsorpsi, dan pada siklus ketiga efisiensinya menurun hingga 6,602%.       Patchouli oil distilled in iron stills is prone to iron ion contamination. This darkens the oil's hue, lowering market quality. Adsorption is one of the ways used to lower iron concentration. Amberlite IR 120 Resin is an adsorbent that can be utilized. The efficiency of this adsorption is affected by contact time and adsorbent weight. The purpose of this research was to use resin to reduce the iron content of patchouli oil, to investigate the influence of contact time and adsorbent weight on the remaining iron content, and to assess the feasibility of employing resin again. The effect of contact time (4 to 12 h) and adsorbent weight (4 to 8 g) on residual iron content was investigated using RSM. The results revealed a reduction in iron content to 1,149 mg/kg and an adsorption efficiency of 98.55% after 12 h of contact time with 8 g of resin. Both factors had a major impact on the answer. Resin reusability testing revealed that the resin can be reused for up to two adsorption cycles before reducing efficiency by 6,602% in the third cycle.
