      Abstract

Global warming has emerged as a critical issue worldwide, including within the livestock subsector. Quail, as birds with naturally high body temperatures, are particularly vulnerable to heat stress, which can adversely affect their productivity. Liquid smoke, a natural antioxidant, has the potential to alleviate heat stress in quail. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the economic impact of administering liquid smoke to quail. This study aims to determine the effect of different doses of grade 1 liquid smoke administered through drinking water on the economic efficiency of quail production. Four treatments were applied: P0 (no Coconut Shell Liquid Smoke (CSLS)), P1 (CSLS at 0.25 mL/L), P2 (CSLS at 0.50 mL/L), and P3 (CSLS at 1 mL/L), using descriptive analysis. The variables measured included Production Cost (HPP), Break-Even Point (BEP), and Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC). Results indicated that the P1 treatment yielded the highest economic efficiency across all parameters. Egg sales under this treatment were also the most profitable. Consequently, the 0.25 mL/L dosage is recommended for farmers aiming to maintain or enhance quail productivity approaching the end of the production cycle while optimizing costs.
