      Sintesis dan Karakterisasi Komposit Karet Alam – Arang dari Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit dengan Variasi Suhu Pirolisis dan Filler

      Abstract
      Dalam proses produksi karet, bahan pengisi ditambahkan untuk memperkuat sifat mekanik karet alam. Bahan pengisi yang umum digunakan pada proses produksi karet adalah carbon black yang tidak dapat terbarukan dan tidak ramah lingkungan. Salah satu bahan pengisi yang dapat digunakan adalah arang dari tandan kosong kelapa sawit (TKKS) karena mudah didapatkan dan ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menyintesis dan menentukan sifat dan karakteristik komposit karet alam dan arang dari TKKS dengan ragam suhu pirolisis dan bahan pengisi. Pirolisis dilakukan pada suhu 350, 400, dan 450 °C. Jumlah bahan pengisi yang diberikan sebanyak 5, 10, dan 15 phr. Proksimat dan spektrum inframerah dianalisis pada arang TKKS dan uji kekuatan mekanis pada komposit karet. Suhu pirolisis 450 °C meningkatkan kadar karbon dan kadar abu arang dan menurunkan kadar zat volatil dan kadar air arang. Spektrum inframerah menunjukkan terbentuknya gugus fungsi baru pada sampel TKKS400 dan TKKS450 akibat suhu tinggi. Uji kuat mekanis memperlihatkan sampel TKKS450 dengan jumlah bahan pengisi 15 phr memiliki nilai kuat sobek dan kekerasan yang baik sebagai bahan karet penyekat.
       
      In the rubber production process, fillers are added to enhance the mechanical properties of natural rubber. A commonly used filler in rubber production is carbon black, which is non-renewable and not environmentally friendly. One alternative filler that can be used is charcoal made from empty palm oil fruit bunches (EFB), as it is readily available and eco-friendly. This study aims to synthesize and determine the properties and characteristics of natural rubber composites with EFB charcoal using various pyrolysis temperatures and filler amounts. Pyrolysis was carried out at temperatures of 350, 400, and 450?°C. The filler amounts used were 5, 10, and 15 phr (parts per hundred rubber). Proximate analysis and infrared spectroscopy were conducted on the EFB charcoal, and mechanical strength tests were carried out on the rubber composites. A pyrolysis temperature of 450?°C increased the carbon and ash content of the charcoal while decreasing its volatile matter and moisture content. The infrared spectra showed the formation of new functional groups in the EFB400 and EFB450 samples due to the high temperatures. Mechanical strength tests revealed that the EFB450 sample with 15 phr filler had good tear strength and hardness, making it suitable as a rubber gasket material.
